Welcome to the public campaign to get new drag strips in
Canberra and Alice Springs.
The A.C.T. Liberal Party,
currently in opposition, has promised $8million dollars for the
construction of a brand new quarter mile drag strip in Canberra.
The Liberal
Shadow Sports Minister, Bill Stefaniak, is on the record with this pledge but
pressure still needs to be applied. This was also the topic of an interview in
Issue 2 of Drags Magazine.
Add your name to the email petition which will
be combined into one document that will be presented prior to the A.C.T. elections in October of this year.
Please note that to hold any importance and credibility a
petition must be able to be theoretically individually verified as being genuine
i.e. not simply drummed up with fictitious names. As such the petition
asks for a telephone number. Please note that you will not be contacted, and
Drags Magazine also guarantees:

Total confidentiality |

Your details will not be passed
on to any other organisation |

You will not be contacted for any
other purpose. |
W.S.I.D was built because of public pressure, it does make a
difference, and so can you. Please support this campaign.
Here is the statement that will constitute the petition: "We
the under-signed call upon you to provide $8million for the construction of a
new drag racing complex in the Australian Capital Territory. Drag racing is a legitimate
sport and is entitled to receive a fair share of public funding. It is also an
important recreational sport and provides enormous economic benefits to the
surrounding local economy and national economy."

Council? Please call Len Nolan on 0418-247-024
But wait there's more! The Northern
Territory government has allocated around 20 hectares of land for a new drag
strip. However this pledge does not provide any funds for the construction. All
monies must be raised by the Central Australian Drag Racing Association (CADRA).
Drags Magazine wants to assist CADRA by putting pressure on
the Northern Territory government to provide the construction funds (in the same
manner as promised by the ACT government) but your help is needed. Add your name
to our email petition for the Alice Springs drag strip.
"We the under-signed call upon you
to provide the necessary funding for the construction of a new drag racing
complex on the land already allocated near Alice Springs. Drag racing is a legitimate
sport and is entitled to receive a fair share of public funding. It is also an
important recreational sport and provides enormous economic benefits to the
surrounding local economy and national economy."
